Serious control problems that can only be resolved in safe mode, but no one wants to play in safe mode (no sound, low res, low quality texture, etc)

I can't even install the game
I have tried to install it both from the original CD (final edition GOTY) and an image of it on my hardrive
Moving the files from the disc does not seem to work also
The main problem is at the ending of the installation where the files are not "uncompressed"
My pc has windows vista home basic 32bit
and is a core2 Quad intel processor by HP
I'd be glad to find a way to run it on windows vista... :((

To fix the stuttering audio problem.
Run as administrator.
