I managed to get the debian squeeze to work, with minor problems:
- video:
latest xorg packages have broken i810 support ( which worked ) in favor if intel driver ( which fails to detect the video card ). You can switch back to vesa ( no xrandr ), or recompile i810 to have 8 bits video support.
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82830 CGC [Chipset Graphics Controller] (rev 04)
- wifi:
It's a bit painful to flash the wireless card to a later firmware, allowing wpa support (wep is a bit, hmmm, broken ). But it works with non hidden networks ( ESSID broadcasted )
01:0d.0 Network controller: Intersil Corporation Prism 2.5 Wavelan chipset (rev 01)
- fpit driver
passive tablet digitizer is OK using xorg fpit driver. /dev/ttyS2 is the serial port to access it. I used the evdev driver for the mouse.
- side buttons
this is bad: I can't manage to get them working under linux. Has anyone a clue ?
- suspend to RAM
it's a no go. I did not dig too deep.
- suspend to DISK : OK ! That's good
- useful toos: LXDE, a lightweight X environments, Firefox ( Iceweasel's ) foxmark, mouse gesture regognition, and CellWriter is a must for tablet PCs
Feel free to contact me at yannick dot jestin at enac dot fr.
