I found that this mouse worked well, under one condition: that a windows computer is avaliable for configuration. Macros (eg tab switching in firefox) that are installed to the mouse from the windows software work under linux. Unfortunately, the extra buttons wouldn't work easily when set to generic mouse buttons, but this didn't prove to be much of a problem in day-to-day use.
