This card works great in two of my desktop computers. For easy installation (in Ubuntu and Debian at least), download and install "Envy" from
http://www.albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html
BEFORE installing the card. Even if the X server crashes after installing the new card, Envy has a textual interface. Envy will detect your hardware, download, compile and install the correct driver.
