Do not use the Vista driver downloaded from promise.com. When doing heavy disk writes (e.g., with CompletePC Backup), the version 2.1.0.3 (April 2007) Vista driver downloaded from www.promise.com stalls w/interrupts disabled for several seconds at a time. The whole PC locks up and is unusable until the writes stop.
Instead use the XP driver, version 2.0.0.43 (05/16/2003). The XP driver works much better on Vista.
If you boot the Vista driver it is nearly impossible to remove w/o reinstalling Vista, as it is loaded very early in the boot process and cannot be uninstalled without major surgery to the registry.
