At first it was acting a bit weird on my XP pro sp2. The guy was moving all over the place and i couldnt seem to controll him properly. It felt like the buttons where stuck. If i pressed back, he would keep walking back and there was nothing i could do about it. I fixed it by setting the compatibility to Windows 95. Then i played it with no issues at all.

Its true.. if you wait until the intro finishes all the way you will be able to play it.
How ever.. on windows XP SP2 the controls seem to lag a lot you could press back once but it will still go back for a lot.
on windows XP SP1 the controls were fine but the camera and surroundings seem to move too slow when the character tries to move forward.

Hey everyone, it looks like no one posted here in a while but I have a basic tutorial to getting Time Commando up and running under Windows XP Pro/Home and SP2(might even work with SP3 - not sure about that). I've been fiddling around with TC for a while now and finally got it working! You don't need to be a PC nerd or whatever to get this. You also don't need anything like the WinXP FIX patch I've seen on the internet, you also don't need any built in WinXP compatibility mode settings. There are a couple ways I found out from trial and error to get it running but the way I found is very good, and actually not that difficult to do. So let's get started with the basic tutorial.
Tutorial - First things first.
STEP 1: First off, you will HAVE to have WinXP Pro/Home installed.
STEP 2: Insert your Time Commando PC game in the CD-ROM or DVD drive(whichever you are using). IMPORTANT!!! - DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT install the game yet, because we ARE NOT going to use the Windows installation .exe file located on the TC disk.
STEP 3: Next, you will NEED to download and install DosBOX .072 - .072 is the version I have and works great. I don't know about any of the other versions of DosBOX, but .072 has so far(knock on wood) worked like a charm for most of my Windows95 games. It can be found on the internet from a search like in Google. Once it's been downloaded, install it to whatever directory on the harddrive it recommends. Ok, you should be done with that part.
STEP 4: NEXT, this next step is very very important. We are not going to use DosBOX.072 YET, but keep it handy. Now, you will need to open a COMMAND PROMPT within WindowsXP - Instructions on doing so - click on START menu, scroll up to ACCESSORIES, click on that, scroll down until you see COMMAND PROMPT, click on it. You should now see the COMMAND PROMPT on your screen. Now, with the Time Commando CD in your CDRom or DVD drive, while still in the COMMAND PROMPT, type in "D:", that will bring you to the D:\ where the disk is located. Next, type "cd DOS", this will now bring you to the DOS folder located on the TC disk. Now, type in "install" then enter. The installation for the game should now be on your screen. Follow the installation instructions, it should install the game to something like C:\TIME (that's where mine installed to). Go back in the COMMAND PROMPT, you should see "D:\DOS" or just "D:\" and type in "exit". The COMMAND PROMPT should now be off your screen. The game is installed (to C:\TIME or wherever you installed to) but ISN'T ready to be played YET. Ok, moving on.
STEP 5: Now you are going to want to bring DosBOX up. Go ahead and click the DosBOX icon (I think located on your desktop - mine is). You should now be in DosBox, you will notice it's alot like the COMMAND PROMPT, the way it's set up. You should now see "Z:>", we will deal with that now. Follow these instructions to get the game working - Firstly, we will kinda boost the speed at which DosBOX will play the game. First, type "config -set cpu cycles=25000". The boosted speed will help to make the game run alot smoother and faster. Now, we are going to want to MOUNT the drives we are going to use. Type "mount d: d:\ -t cdrom", then type "mount c c:\TIME"(or where the game is). Next, type "C:\" then enter. You should now be at the C:\. Now you're ready to play. Type "timeco" to start the game. THAT's IT!
Hope it works for you like it did for me.

Just make sure you DO NOT skip any of the intro sequences. Let it run all the way through and you're in.
