Turok: Dinosaur Hunter works well in Windows XP, but in both 3dfx glide and Direct3D, the map in the game will not display. The yellow arrow, showing the players place on the map, and the purple N with the long arrow pointing north is perfectly visible, but the map is completely invisible. The map only fully displays when in a bonus level. If the bonus level is exited, the map disappears again and will only appear if in another bonus level. No fix exists. Have tried for 3 hours changing game settings and compatibility settings, etc with no success.

Target OS: Windows XP Service Pack 3
Target CPU: Athlon XP (Barton) 2800+
Target Memory: 1 Gig DDR 400
Target Video: Geforce 6600GT, 181.20 drivers
Tested Version: Turok Dinosaur Hunter v1.0 (Direct3D v1.0)
Game may have trouble on uninstall. The Uninstall shortcut command should look something like this:
C:\WINDOWS\IsUninst.exe -f"C:\Games\TUROK\Uninst.isu"
The location of the quotes is extremely important for uninstall or you'll get an error regarding insufficient space for the log file.
The game will generate errors based on available video cards driver stubs. In the game folder are files named:
Video_3DFx.dll
Video_D3D.dll
Video_PowerVR.dll
Video_RagePro.dll
On modern video cards the only one likely to work is Video_D3D.dll. To avoid error messages delete or rename the others (e.g. rename Video_3DFx.dll to Video_3DFx.bak) then select Nvidia Riva 128 default from the Video -> Performance Settings menu.
Otherwise the game works perfectly.

This works fine, no lag issues (played for an hour then saved and left).
I did have the map thing, where they werent showing up. This is caused by the game not really "registering" you exploring new land, hence, no map is drawn. An easy fix is to put in the all map cheat, this will give you the ENTIRE map, but better than nothing.
- Load the game and then load your save game so you are in game.
- Goto the menu and select "Enter Cheat"
- Either use TRNTNNQ or GNNTRTMNT in the enter cheats menu and enter code
- Back out and there should be a new option on your menu called "cheats menu". Go into that, select "maps" to turn it on.
- Vuala, all maps now are visible. Again, this is a CHEAT and it will show you the map if you have explored it or not. You might have to do this every time you load the game.
