Eudora 8 is an email client that combines Mozilla's Thunderbird with code, features, and GUI elements from Qualcomm's Eudora.
Qualcomm's intention with the Penelope project is to join the Eudora user experience with the Mozilla platform. We intend to produce a version of Eudora that is open source and based on Mozilla and Thunderbird. It's not our intention to compete with Thunderbird; rather, we want to complement it.
New in this version:
Search Messages now uses the fast index if turned on in the preferences, Advanced->General->Enable Global Search and Indexer. The checkbox "Use indexed search" in the Search Messages can be used to turn this on/off.
Eudora now automatically checks if new versions are available. A manual check can be done by going to the Help menu and selecting Check for Updates.
