FLAC2Mac is the simplest way to convert FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) to Mac-compatible audio formats like Apple Lossless or AAC that can be played in iTunes and transferred to an iPod or iPhone. FLAC files contain true CD-quality audio and when using the Apple Lossless format, FLAC2Mac continues to maintain the same quality as the original CD. FLAC2Mac is an initial alpha release and as such, may contain many bugs.
FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files in your favorite player (or your car or home stereo, see supported devices) just like you would an MP3 file.
