DesktopID will display all sorts of machine information right on the desktop. The information is superimposed on the desktop pattern and can't be removed by the user.

-Broadcast Address

-Machine

-Serial Number (10.3+ only)

-Uptim
-Load Average.
-Apple Remote Desktop (if installed)
-Information fields 1-4.
-Custom shell commands.
DesktopID is fully configurable, although there is no GUI admin tool available at this time.
